Background
Since 1948 when Dorothy Bullitt founded Seattle’s iconic classical music station, Classical KING FM 98.1 has been a major player in the arts and cultural communities of the Pacific Northwest. On May 2, 2011, KING FM transitioned to a non-profit, listener-supported station. This transition enables the station to better serve its 300,000 listeners and achieve our mission to “further the education and involvement of the audience in Classical Music and thereby advance the appreciation and performance of opera, symphonic music and chamber music”.  
 
Position Description
Under the supervision of the Assistant Program Director, the Arts and Programming Coordinator assures that KING FM incorporates all significant classical music performances in the NW into a KING FM calendar, our local radio programming, and in online platforms, as directed. The candidate will also communicate with arts groups to maximize the cross promotional opportunities. Also works with the Program Director to coordinate programming details with staff.
 
Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Maintain classical music performance calendar
  • Schedule guests for local programming
  • Helps production turn local concert recordings into online audio content.
  • Coordinates programming details with staff
  • Works with station partners to maximize cross promotional opportunities
  • Assignments in KING FM pledge drives
  • Special Projects as assigned by Program Director

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience
  • Strong familiarity with classical music
  • Must be comfortable and familiar with social media, blogs and websites
  • Must be familiar with Excel, Word, and ideally audio editing software
  • Must be highly organized and efficient
  • Ability to write for the web and other platforms, mostly about classical music
