A product of the Cascade and Everett Youth Symphony programs, Kristin Olson now specializes in both historical and modern oboes. Performing regularly on both coasts, she enjoys all aspects of the music business including outreach, concerts, research, and education. In addition to a busy performance schedule, Kristin owns and runs ReedLizard.com, a business dedicated to providing both modern and historical reeds to customers all over the world.
March 28 - Kevin Mallon
IrishmanKevin Mallon studied in England with early music specialist Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and composition with Sir Peter Maxwell Davies. After conducting many opera and orchestral projects in Ireland, from 1989 to 1992 he was concertmaster of Le Concert Spirituel and Les Arts Florissants in Paris. In 1993 he accepted positions with the University of Toronto as well as Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. He founded the Toronto-based Aradia Ensemble and was also made music director of the Toronto Chamber Orchestra. With these orchestras he has toured and recorded extensively, particularly for Naxos (over 40 CDs). In 2004 Mr. Mallon was appointed Artistic Director of Opera 2005 in Ireland.
April 4 - Wesley Schulz
Wesley Schulz is Music Director and Conductor of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, the Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestras and the Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras. Additionally, he is the Assistant Conductor of the Britt Classical Festival. In 2010, Maestro Schulz and the Texas Chamber Group won the American Prize in Orchestral Performance for their rendering of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring.
Musical Chsirs host Michael Brooks came to Seattle from the East Coast more than 20 years ago. It didn't take long for Mike to become enthralled with the Northwest's nature and hospitality. He joined KING FM in the spring of 2007 and has enjoyed the return to his "radio roots." His first radio job was at a classical station in his hometown of Baltimore, Md.
