Japan has had a deep influence on American Music, from its aesthetics to its emotional content and philosophical outlook. Join us for an entertaining and enlightening multimedia exploration of the music that shaped and was shaped by our close cultural ties with Japan over the generations.

The presentation is curated and led by Dr. Adam Haws, professor of theory and composition at WWU and an authority on ethnomusicology. The program also includes a live performance by pianist Angelo Rondello.

“Japan in American Music” is presented by Seattle Music Exchange Project in cooperation with Cornish College of the Arts and Seattle-Kobe Association.
