Cascadian Chorale – What Cheer

December 10 @ 3:30 pm - 5:15 pm

| $15-23

The joys of Christmas are many and varied, as is the greatest of choral Christmas music. Some works here are favorites every year, such as Carol of the Bells, Biebl’s sonorous Ave Maria, and Thompson’s introspective Alleluia. We’ll also explore the late Renaissance in England, Holland, and Germany. And we’ll feature our own resident composers Bern Herbolsheimer, Jeremy Kings, and Joy Porter, plus a new work by Vashon Island-based Charles Lovekin. Join this evening of joy and wonder!

Mateo Flecha: Riù riù chiù
William Byrd: O magnum mysterium
Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck: Hodie Christus natus est
Heinrich Schütz: Ein Kind ist uns geboren
Peter J. Wilhousky: Carol of the Bells
Randall Thompson: Alleluia
William Walton: What cheer
Franz Biebl: Ave Maria
John Tavener: Today the virgin
Eleanor Daley: Huron Carol
Bern H. Herbolsheimer: Stille Nacht
Jeremy Kings: There is no rose
Joy DeCoursey-Porter: Dum spiro spero (world premiere)
Charles Lovekin: A Christmas Carol (world premiere)
