An evening of solo and ensemble guitar music. The program will include solo works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Domenico Scarlatti, Leo Brouwer and ensemble works that have been created for the Seattle-Isfahan Guitar Project.
The ensemble works will include:
“A Piece for Guitar Orchestra” and “Habanera” by Ashkan Saberi, a composer from Isfahan, Iran and “Ruba’i”(Quatrain) by Jeffrey Bowen of Seattle.
The program will also feature “Circus Music” a piece written for guitar sextet by Tom Baker, professor of composition at Cornish College of the Arts.
The Seattle-Isfahan Guitar Project is a new collaborative venture between classical guitarists in Seattle, WA and Isfahan, Iran. Led by award-winning guitarist Naeim Rahmani and with support from the Seattle-Isfahan Sister Cities Association, the project creates a collaborative workspace where performers and composers from the two cities can come together to bring exciting new works into the classical guitar repertoire.
