Its 74th season kicks off with Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s charming and evocative Capriccio Italien, Benjamin Britten’s powerfully emotional Sinfonia da Requiem and Richard Strauss’s monumental Also Sprach Zarathustra, used as the opening music for Stanley Kubrick’s epic movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.
