Background
Since 1948 when Dorothy Bullitt founded Seattle’s iconic classical music station, Classical KING FM 98.1 has been a major player in the arts and cultural communities of the Pacific Northwest. On May 2, 2011, KING FM transitioned to a non-profit, listener-supported station. This transition enables the station to better serve its 300,000 listeners and achieve our mission to “further the education and involvement of the audience in Classical Music and thereby advance the appreciation and performance of opera, symphonic music and chamber music”. 
 
KING FM’s operating model depends on philanthropic support from the community.  As such, we are looking for a full-time Database Director with a high level of database expertise that can play an integral role as a member of the station’s development team.  The successful candidate should be energetic, creative and versatile.
 
Position Description
The Database Director will provide support to the Development Department by managing multiple projects including the creation of accurate statistical, analytical and financial reports and data files; training and implementation of database standards and procedures; development and implementation of policies and procedures to streamline and guide data entry and fulfillment efficiencies; and maintaining the integrity of the database through regular audits and cleansing.  This position reports to the Development Director.
 
Job duties include but are not limited to:
 
  • Proactively stays current with Development goals so that they can actively lead the Development Team in maximizing the use of Raiser’s Edge in order to help achieve the goals.
  • Responsible for accuracy of all donor data entry into Raiser’s Edge
  • Maintains the integrity of the database including structure of attributes, code tables, business rules and all other set up functions to maximize database efficiency.
  • Implements and maintains donor database policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for producing, printing, and distributing Monthly metrics reports
  • Chairs a Monthly metrics department meeting
  • Recommends and produces other requested reports for Development Team. 
  • Conduct month end closing process by reconciling gift records and reports
  • Receive and implement all database updates and upgrades and prepare users for the upgrade(s).
  • Participates in Raiser’s Edge/Blackbaud or relevant user group sessions, meetings and conferences and communicates appropriate information to other users.
  • Assists other users with database questions and improve day-to-day efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and a background in database management, public radio, fundraising or other related fields.
  • A minimum of 3-years of experience using Raiser’s Edge, which includes proven, extensive experience with data entry, records upkeep, importing, querying, batching, mailing and reporting.
  • Strong technical skills to maintain and enhance database capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of the web as a fundraising tool.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in statistical analysis.
