Grieg’s “Erotik,” Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and two contrasting pieces for bassoon and strings are on the program for the Port Angeles Chamber Orchestra in this first concert of the new year. The Northwest Wind Symphony kicks off 2019 on Saturday, January 19 with its winter concert, “English Landscapes.” NWWS will present British marches, as well as Irish and Scottish music reminiscent of bagpipes and dancing jigs. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. at Corbet Theatre on the Centralia College Campus. General admission tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door or in advance from Book ‘n’ Brush in Chehalis. Also known as the “chant service,” Compline is an ancient nighttime prayer, sung by the Compline Choir. A Seattle tradition since 1956, and broadcast live since 1962 on Classical 98.1 KING-FM. Compline is sung every Sunday night at 9:30 p.m. Pacific Time at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle, Washington.
