A Statement from the Seattle Cultural Roundtable on Racial Justice

June 3, 2020 David Dodman Read
We, the leaders of Seattle’s arts, culture, heritage, and science organizations, stand with our Black and Brown colleagues and community members in mourning the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and so many other victims of violence rooted in the institutional racism that enables it. We are together committed to fostering more equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplaces and collective communities. We stand with People of Color in the fight for justice and act as agents for positive change. — 5th Avenue Theatre, Burke Museum, Classical KING FM, Cornish College of the Arts, Frye Art Museum, Henry Art Gallery, Meany Center for the Performing Arts, MOHAI, MOPOP, Museum of Flight, National Nordic Museum, Northwest African American Museum, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Seattle Art Museum, Seattle Children's Theatre, Seattle Opera, Seattle Rep, Seattle Symphony, Seattle Theatre Group, SIFF, Town Hall Seattle, Village Theatre, Woodland Park Zoo

Art has always reflected culture and society: illuminating issues, helping us understand differences, voicing pain, and offering healing.

The CEOs of Seattle’s Cultural Roundtable are speaking with one voice regarding the inequity that exists in our community and the desire to work with all sectors in the community to create real and lasting change. We issued this statement.
